LRANY’s Tom Stebbins to Speak in Talisen Construction’s ‘Scaffold Law’ Webinar

large scale scaffoldingOn Thursday, October 3rd, Talisen Construction will be hosting a free informational webinar discussing New York’s ‘Scaffold Law’ which will be open to New York building owners, owner’s reps, property managers, general contractors, and subcontractors. The webinar is entitled “Falling Down: NY’s Scaffold Law Makes It Cost More To Build In NYC Than Anywhere Else In the Country”. LRANY’s Executive Director, Tom Stebbins, will be participating in this event and speaking as an expert on the issue.

The ‘Scaffold Law’ is a New-York-only law that drives up costs of every public and private construction project in the state; under this law building owners and contractors are held absolutely liable for “gravity-related injuries.” So, practically, if it happens on Earth, contractors and property owners pay.  This antiquated law costs the economy, state and local governments, school districts, businesses and taxpayers billions each year.
